a guy who makes cool bikes
went to court today for a ticket i got in Newport Beach, Ca.
the ticket was for not having an M2 classification on my license, not having a license plate or registration on the bike, and not wearing a DOT helmet.
the original "courtesy notice" said i had to pay $394, and show proof of registration and proof for the M2 license, so i figured most of that amount was for the helmet.
when i got to the judge, he kinda laughed over the ticket, asked to see the proofs, then asked me if i had the helmet with me. i said it was locked up to the bike.
he then said it was ok because he saw me ride up, and he thought i was on an antique harley.
ended up paying $25 for each violation, so $75 total.
that's a heck of a lot better than 400 friggen bucks...
