I started building my bike back in 08. After speaking with the local law enforcement, stopped. At that time there weren't any laws pertaining to motorized bicycles in IL so it was up to police and judges to wether they were ok and if not, what consequences would be for operating them.
I recently discovered they amended the IL motor vehicle code to include a provision for motorized bicycles in 2011. So dug everything out of the shed and tossed it together a month or so ago.
Been using it for my commute back and forth to work ever since. Not pedaling is so nice. It's an old 80/66cc motor so it has bushings instead of bearings, my only real complaint about it so far. Upgraded the wire and plug. It's on a crossbike.
