Check this out:
Scored from a super HD trike rim that got wasted and replaced.

HUGE spokes and nipples MAKE ME SMILE!
Just so happens I have a bare drive hub laying around waiting to go into rotation....







This is going to be the heaviest, most bulletproof drive wheel I've ever built and should be super sweet.
I like super fat nipples and big 'ol honkin' spokes!
 
Still have to drill out the rim for the HUGE nipples, but I'm halfway done!

It was a Tomahawk Industrial trike made here in Memphis.
Spokes are about 8 guage. Original hub and wheel had been drilled by hand and not even de-burred. Very rough and tons of burrs on both rim and hub.
This only took a few minutes longer, so I'm guessing the factory simply didn't care.
 
This rim is on hold awhile since I want to run the outstanding little Runtong motor I scored recently and ported.
But I get bored late at night so you never know!
 
8 guage Big spokes, Must no long be made can't find anything on the net.Should be one tough wheel. Thanks..............Curt
 
Okay. here's the latest.
Spokes are about 1/4" too long and won't tighten up. I'm bummed. Need a different hub or a die to thread them a bit more.
I also might try adding washers and see if that does it, but I'm not optimistic.
Wheelzilla is on hold pending new developments or a threading die.





If you look close at the bottom pic, you can see how the huge nipples stick out (lol) and won't tighten enough to tension

I have not given up yet. Looking for the correct die to thread the spokes a bit more. Won't take much to allow this hub to work correctly.
