Idle problem and poor performance

Somewhat finished this build, boy was this one a pain in my ass. I’m not familiar with fabricating an engine mount as this bike isn’t suited for china dolls so it was a lot of trial and error, wasted hours, wasted money etc. I guess we learn from our mistakes though.

Anyways, I fired it up, ran bad, kept adjusting carb C-clip, richer seems to be working better for the idle. But it won’t stay idling and the power seems weak when I ride it. Also when it’s idling and I try to keep it running by hitting the throttle a bit, if I go too much with it the bike revs so high it sounds like it’s gonna explode!!

It has a reed valve on it (not too familiar with using these) I didn’t go with a windowed piston instead I tried a third transfer port at the intake with no boost port.

I think maybe it’s just a matter of carb tuning? Maybe a bigger pilot jet.

Cheers folks

I really hope you like the smell of 2-stroke smoke!!

But seriously... you probably need to install bigger jets in the carb. (mainly the pilot jet)

Yes, the bigger jets (as inst.). Also, could there be an air leak around the intake? Does the engine run better with the choke at half way?
