How to rebuild and balance these engines

I have done it with good results.

I also drilled an "Egor-idle". I'm coining a phrase. I did this befor I ever fired the motor so I don't have a base line for comparison but I can attest it it does not harm anything and I have a good idle and very smooth throttle response.

Thanks for the responses. I will drill that little hole too!

Here is another question. In Egor's thread about that carb mod he also shows how he trimmed the piston skirt to completely expose the intake port. What do you guys think about that? Will it mess with the port timing or the way the engine runs or will it free it up and run much better?
