I just got my 80cc engine kit running (after buying a NGK B4 sparkplug for it) and after a minute of running it it gets really hot and when I rev it, it will start to smoke off the motor. I checked for airleaks and I'm using an 18:1 fuel mix. Any help would be appreciated.

Use 24:1 synthetic.
Are you sure there are no air leaks?
Check to make sure your jet needle clip in on the second notch from the top.

How hot is "hot hot hot"?
It will be very warm, especially the first few minutes of operation. You can't touch the exhaust within seconds of starting, and depending on the outside temp, you don't want to touch a fully warmed engine for more than a second.

Joe isn't 24;1 KIND of lean for a new motor? Would'nt 30:1 be better? I have used amsoil
in all of mine, Just asking. Dax says 30:1 fossil oil first 200 mi then syn. I don't know. My race bikes were broke in from the word go. Run em' half throttle a lap or two then stand on it! big grin, Tramp

Some specify 16 to 1, some 20 to 1 some 24 to 1 for break in.

I recommend 24:1 synthetic for the plain bearing engines, which may be a little heavy, but I've yet to score, throw blow, or spin anything.....yet.

I usually say 24:1 to 32:1 at your discresion afterwards.

30:1 would be a little on the lean side for break in.

my needle's on the second notch from top and im using about a 24:1 mix, -I started it and just left it run, and it seemed to run a lil better but it still gets really hot within a minute, could the wrong sparkplug be causing this?

You could try your stock plug if you think that may help, but I'd ride it for 15 minutes, then check the plug to see what it looks like.
