I started most of my friction drives with a rope wrapped around the drive wheel and pulled it. I have a homelite chainsaw motor once but I don't remember the drive shaft arrangement. threads on the drive shaft is a good thing. It is how I connected my drive wheels to the drive shaft. Your drive wheel has to hook on somehow.

It sounds like he is going friction... also as you pedal the bike it turns the engine and it will start if it is pressing on the wheel. Like and old car with a clutch...

If your bike is friction drive then you can lift your rear wheel and spin your pedal and it will spin your drive wheel and start your engine :)

I think it will work with a chain drive bike 2!!
gud luk!
