hf air box

I'm going to use the stock air box (stock everything else too) on my HF. I just noticed that the louvers at the intake of the box slant upward which would direct rain into the air box. What would be a better solution: A. Cut the louvers out. Or, B. Fab some kind of hood to direct water around the opening. I don't think the louvers serve a purpose but I could be wrong.

Do the hood. Should anything happen to the engine while under warranty- you will be covered. I actually made an added enclosure to silence the intake drone.
