help needed with 29er rag joint

Just got my motor kit in today. Pretty mucj stuck on the rag joint. Does anyone have any sort of advice/tips for installing the ragjoint on a genesis onyx? Thanks in advance
 
not sure what an onyx is, but if the number of spokes isn't divisible by 9, then extra effort will be required - a 36 spoke wheel works best
 
The ONEX can fit a rag joint if you use 6 bolts rather than 9. It can also be installed with all 9, but it's a REAL hassle and places strain on several spokes.
6bolts works just as well as 9 in this application.
(The one I installed has been problem free for almost a year now...)
 
I put all 9 bolts in. Will take out 3.

.... better to be true .... and late than to be in a hurry ...

... may have some bent spokes, but better off not compounding my error
 
I went ahead and dumped my onex because its aluminium and the motor mount is just not going to work for a 4 stroke.

so I just bought a steel frame 29 from Jensen
 
While I liked the ONEX, that aluminum frame was main reason I never did another. Impossible to get tensioner reliable. (I dislike spring tensioners)
