Hi, I’m originally from Chicago but my wife and I now live in SoCal. We both have Electra Townie Balloon 8i’s and would like to convert to electric. I looked at motors about 3 years ago and am not aware of what is new in the ebike industry. What would be better a mid drive or a rear wheel motor? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

What did ya end up doing? Lots and lots of new products. Also, you could do a hybrid with an engine + an electric wheel. (there is a hybrid section here)
