Heat Wrap Question

I ordered a pocket bike exhaust and the way Im going to put it on makes it a little close to my leg. If i wrap the pipe with exhaust wrap will that atleast keep the temp down so I wont get burned if I touch it accidentally? I figure the wrap wont keep it cool by no means but I think that it will atleast keep my leg from becoming burned.

I use it and it warms up, but not even close to burning. you can grab it with your bare hands and its fine.
 
Each wrap should overlap by at least 1/2". Read the package though. Some overlap by 50% of the width of the wrap. The length needed will be determined by the diameter of the pipe you are wrapping and the amount of overlap you use.
