I hope someone here knows the answer to this;

I want to use a 4 stroke, for obvious reason, but I know you have to keep it at or below 49cc to be legal.
I could prolly find the answer by goog but haven't had much look (perhaps my key words hurt).

How do I determine what H.P. translates into 49cc's?
If you now what I mean?

Pretty cleat that Michigan wants in on the action (money).
We ARE the Motor City, after all, so laws are there to get you to use the gas.

No public transportation anywhere round here.
 
What are the obvious reasons? I quite like a 2-stroke on my MB. It's more simple, more powerful, and doesn't need oil changes.

Anyway, 49cc 4-strokes generally fall somewhere between 2 and 4 hp. Depends on the carb, exhaust, how well it's tuned, stroke, bore, .... etc.
 
I guess my reasoning is that 4 strokers appear to me to be smaller in size comparatively.
Not sure if this is true or not, just seems that way.
Michigan law qualifies 49cc or less as a moped.

They should be about the same. 4-stroke should be a tad bigger because in addition to the piston and crank (which will be almost the exact same size in the 2 being the same displacement) you have valves. The 4-stroke will definitely be a little heavier.
