Got Airborn today on a speed bump! :)

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we had lift off over a speed bump... caught me by surprise, coz it's the first that ever happened, and to think I was'nt really trying to get airborn. I probably got about 1 or 2 seconds airtime. I only realized it when my left foot was off the pedal. Still got control, and landed safely.

I was probably going about 50 kph. Bike's weight is about 25kgs, I weigh about 90kgs, plus my back pack, about 10kgs.

I did'nt realize I was going that fast, coz it was a bit of going uphill.

Anybody else got airborn and landed safely?

I used to make my road bike get airborn when I was a kid...

i jump speed bumps all the time. the first bike i built wasn't a classic vintage bike, more of a junker, and i was always looking for jumps to hit. nothing major, but i've probably got 2 feet of air off a few lump jumps.

maybe that's why the frame broke...

Heh heh, good to hear the safe landing, I can only imagine that happening during a turn...

lol, Bairdco, that'd do it. I used to jump off where the curb dips for a driveway and comes back up, from the sidewalk, you can get whicked air. Not going to push my luck w/30lbs extra on a cruiser frame though
