Hello everyone, I've been considering making a motorized bicycle. Reason being is I can't obtain my license at the moment. I'm 16 and was wondering if you needed a Driver's License and/or insurance in order to drive a motorized bicycle in the state of CA. Basically, what is necessary in order to drive these baby's around.. Thank you!

Yep, you need a drivers license with a M2 or M1 endorsement for a gas powered motorized bicycle.
DOT helmet
$19 one time fee license plate.
ebikes do not need a drivers license, just be over 16 and wear a bicycle
helmet.
What part of CA do you live in? Enforcement of the above laws is spotty
to non existent in certain areas.
