Moped tank or older metal style motorcycle tank from 70's or early 80's.
Check your local yellow pages. Most large cities have at least one motorcycle salvage yard. Here in Denver we have Steel's M/C Salvage. Hundreds of bikes to look at and scrounge parts from.
One suggestion would be a tank from an early Yamaha MX 80. I have two Early Harley Baja tanks that are slim and have a great shape, adaptable to a bicycle frame.

Going with a moped tank for mine. I have not done much with it yet, but plan on repainting it this week...
The behind-the-seat tanks are nice too, and if you do not want to make a pork-and-beans style tank yourself, these look good for $100: http://www.coyote-gear.com/4inch.html
