Hi guys, I need help...

I was riding my bike the other day when a my motor started making a squealing and grinding sound. I took off the clutch cover and found a small diameter spring about 2-3 inches long all mangled up in the bottom of the clutch cover.
Now my bike runs very poorly and I can't find on any diagrams on what the spring is or how to fix it. Does anyone know what this spring is and how to fix my bike?

if the spiring was about the size of a pencil lead ,it may be a support from the seal lip behind the small bevel gear this would allow gas mixed air that's ment for the combustion chamber to escape into the clutch housing lowering the transfer pressure,if you have a puller, use it properly to remove the small crank gear (in the clutch housing)and check the seal
