Exhaust leak....

Will an exhaust leak cause noticeable performance decreases? I noticed a sound difference and the bike started running like crap. When I was cleaning the bike I noticed some oily build up on the frame. The leak is not at the gasket but on a weld. The exhaust is a custom fabricated kx60 exhaust. My suspicions were confirmed today when riding. I put my hand where I thought the leak was and sure enough...I could feel exhaust blowing out....
 
Not only performance decreasing, but it will build some gunk in the cylinder, and probably where the exhaust is. It will mess with your air/fuel misture in the combustion chamber.
You can go to any auto parts store and get some cork gasket material, and make your own. It's about 4-5 $ per sheet, and you can make as many gaskets as you need with an exacto knife.

The leak is not at the gasket. It is at a weld and a seam along the exhaust. I have it off and getting fixed as we speak. thanks guys
