Newby here, After a failure to construct a workable clutch to hook up a 3.5 horse Briggs to an old Schwinn. (trying to build something I saw in the 50s) I found this site mentioned over on survivalblog.
Will probably be lurking for a while, as I peruse the old posts.

Welcome and have fun. You might want to check the DIY section to see what others have done with non-kit installations. You'll find quite a few B&S installs as well as those using everything from chain saw to weed eater motors. Good luck, enjoy.

Welcome to the site.
In the middle of the last century we used a slip type that we engaged with our knee and a quick tap of the hand moved it out.
Worked well.
