NO! Running without an air filter does NOTHING except shorten the lifespan of your engine.Also i have another question.
I see members without an air filter on the carb. If i richen my needle and take off my air filter will that give me a little more speed?
Anyone who tells you different is simply wrong.
If you want more speed, wait till your engine is fully broken in(about2-300 miles) and buy yourself a good tuned pipe.
Then jet the engine properly for the pipe.
You should also consider a 36tooth sprocket if you live in a flat area(or if you don;t mind helping on steep hills). Switching to the 36 lowered my rpm enough to make the ride much more comfortable, and the tuned pipe makes up for the loss in low speed takeoff. My normal cruise speed went up nicely with this mod.
