been riding my elec. bike to work lately, just so everyone will think i'm crazy. the juice comes in handy on windy days, try only to use the motor when theres a strong head wind, pedaling 99% of the time. today it was -2*F and a little windy so i used the hub a little, made a lot more noise in the sub 0 weather.
 
All batterys suffer peak current capacity loss at lower temps due to incressed internal resistance.
The good news is, If you keep it warm, Then ride it, the power draw will help maintain the batterys tempature in the cold. And the higher the internal resistance, the more power goes into heating the battery.

Also some of those lipo's have sick peak current ability, so loss may not be noticed.
