DIY Engine solutions

Many of us either don't like 2-stoke chinese engines, or cannot find one in our country. Why don't we put all of our alternative solutions in this thread. Not just proposals but full working solutions (with detail on all the modifications and manufacturing of parts, and if possible photos).

The electric bike builders seem to be better at the detail planning than gas bike builders. When it comes to mounting non-kit motors, there are so many uncertainties that it is tough to do anymore than conceptual planning.
However, we CAN sketch up and document an as-built plan of our finished projects to help others with their projects.
Now I just need to do a DIY build so I can document it.
