Clutch Stuck in engaged position

I have an 80cc raw motor with the clutch stuck in the engaged position. I haven't seen any posts on this yet so if there is one I hope you'll forgive me! Are there any suggestions out there. Thanks guys and gals.
 
Thanks motor head. I rechecked the cable and it is fine. There is a pin that seems like it should move in and out to engage and disengage the clutch. The pin is in the shaft that the small sprocket is on, that comes out of the motor itself. It seems like the pin should get pushed in when you pull the clutch lever, but it is stuck in the out position.
 
How are you trying to push that pin in? You won't be able to do it with your hand or fingers. The clutch actuator is supposed to do that. The actuator is the cam inside the clutch actuator cover, left side. Are you sure you have the clutch cable adjusted correctly? It should have little to no slack where it is attached to the clutch actuator arm on the engine. If this is a new engine then the clutch might be stuck from the factory. Try striking that pin with a good blow from a plastic headed hammer. Don't beat it to death just give it a good solid hit and see if it frees up the stuck clutch friction pads. Get back to us if these things don't help.

If you are the same "wishesdontdodishes" from that other bike forum, i'd be curious to see how you attached the motor to your unicycle. Please post a video... it sounds pretty dangerous, so be careful!
 
There's a topic for another forum, but to answer your question I never got it to work predictably. It's a shame too. Several NBA teams and a Vegas casino were offering appearance money. I say good luck to anyone getting a gas powered unicycle to work before the old lady throws you out. My advice...feather that throttle..crt.
 
Sorry, I have the same problem. Did you tap the pin or the flower nut? Where is the flower nut?

The pin is in the center of the engine drive sprocket, left side of engine behind the clutch actuator cover. The flower nut is behind the right side engine cover, rear, center of clutch pressure plate. Tapping either will usually release a stuck clutch. Make sure that your clutch cable is adjusted correctly also. It should have little to no slack in it where it attaches to the clutch actuator arm with the clutch lever (on the handlebar) is released.

Ok, my next question....The clutch arm is very loose, just kinda flops around when the cable is not attached. When the cable is attached it doesn't pull to parallel to the engine nor does it stick out. It's kind of at an angle (45 deg) to the line of the bike. Is this normal? Seems like the arm is what moves the cam inside. I feel like I'm missing a piece (spring, cable tie, something). Maybe it'll work just fine once I tap the pin and nut

That was kind of a weird first post, but still, welcome to thwe forum, I think.
 
setmea2, that sounds about right. They sit at different angles and do flop a bit until they are hooked up.
 
I have a 70cc sd stinger and I took the clutch plate off an of couse the covers MY problem is that the center pin is stuck. How do free it or get to it to see what the problem is?

With the clutch plate off and the center pin exposed on both sides shouln't the pin move free for a short distance with no pressure on either side? I tapped on it and it does not move, do not want to hit it too hard.
 
Wow! I would use some penetrating oil, then after a couple of hours of that smack it from the sprocket side. Is there a ball bearing in there somewhere? Shoulda been.
 
Yes there was a ball bearing looks like all was there. Just got this from a individual and it has never been ran, it's new.
 
It might be you need to adjust the flower nut on the right side of the engine. If pulling on the clutch lever meets no resistance might mean the thing is just way out of adjustment.
