Clutch Problems

My clutch was working fine.Nice and tight with a small amount of play. 3rd would be neutral(pedaling), 2nd had a small amount of pull at 7-10 mph, and 1st would be fully engaged.
I Decided to shorten the clutch cable because it was too long by about a foot and didnt look to good. I cut down the last foot or so of cable that would go to the clutch. I kept the fine adjustment screw, and used a small piece of tube to replace the cut one. Put the cable through tthe clutch, then tightend up the bolt. Everything fits fine, feels like the same amount of play in the clutch, but the problem is that 2nd gear has no pull now, meaning that it is the same as 3rd, neutral. What the **** is wrong?

Its a 2 stroke 49cc, Starfire Gen II with a thumb release clutch. It came with 3 speeds. Like i said, it had 3 as neutral, 2nd had a small amount of pull and in 1st the engine was fully engauged. Now 2nd is also neutral like 3rd.

Yea. I fixed it today, all i had to do was loosen the clutch by a 1/16 of an inch and now it is back to how it was......Freakin Sweet
