Cheap DIY exhaust gasket.

While I was re-installing my engine today I messed up my exhaust gasket beyond repair. After looking through drawers and boxes trying to find a suitable replacement I remembered the roll of aluminum foil tape.

Now the tape itself isn't cheap ($15 a roll) but I swear it has more uses then duct tape!

Put away the torches and pitchforks, it really does! :D

Used about 6 little 2" pieces, trimmed each layer before adding the next and burnished down with a wooden hammer handle.

Works great! My exhaust has never been quieter. :D

That will work better than anything that is gasket paper fo sho.

I found out after trying one of SBP exhaust kits it came with a aluminum block spacer for a gasket. The way I figure it it expands and contacts with the heat maintaining a seal. Worked better than what I used before [Gasket paper]. Suspect copper is good as well. I am leaning to the aluminum though.
