Brake on a jack shaft???

I was just wondering if anyone has tried putting a go cart drum brake on an outer end of a home-built jack shaft? Any way this Would work?

how about a disc brake?
You gotta start reading the race bike builds in the Motorized Race Bicycles forum and Culvercityclassic's and scotto's builds.

Ok, thanks, guess I've been specializing too much. Goin there now...

I have a couple setups in use, I call them the emergency brake.... They do work very well and need to be softened up a bit to keep from locking up. The last picture is one in the works. We like to use this setup when we can, hope this helps.
