BP5HS Vs BPR5HS plug?

Hi, I recently went to lorco and picked up a NGK sparkplug.. wanted the BP5HS but they insisted on selling me a BPR5HS.. is the resistance a bad thing? (R stands for resistor plug) Guy insisted it would be even better for the ignition but *shrugs*

Moon,
This is an ongoing argument here. There are those of us who maintain that any resistance is bad, then there are those who run resistor wire and plugs and report no problems. The reasons are varied and both sides have merit. Because of the relatively low voltage produced by the magnetos in the Chinese 2 stroke engines I believe that adding resistance simply reduces the amount of spark. Then there are people who say it, the resistance, tends to soften, or even out the voltage spikes producing a better spark. Then there is the RF interference issue. Many guys have had problems with their electronic speedometers and resolved them by going to a resistor wire and plug with no loss of performance. My advice? Try both and decide for yourself.
