best street tires

Poor dude

Hey guys just wondering what you guys are running for street tires. I have a 1998 GT Avalanche and love the heck out of it but I'd like to ditch the mountain bike tires. Do you guys have any favorites or suggestions? Thanks!

I personally like Kendra 838 tires for 26" wheels. This tire is patterned after a motorcycle street tire. It cost around $20 per tire.

I like the Kenda K838 tires as well, but are a little thin. Maxxis Hookworms seem to be the best choice.

Yeah but you can buy 2 Kendra 838's for what you'll pay for 1 Hookworm. Plus the Kendra being a 2" wide tire will fit most mountain bike and cruiser frames.

I used to buy Kenda K838 tires for $10.00 a piece. Maxxis Hookworms are now $40.00 a piece. I would run the Kenda K838 with a Mr. Tuffy Tire liner and usually had no problems with them being as thin as they are.

I like those, almost bought them but went with
Sunlite K847 Kross Plus Goliath 26x1.95 PAIR Mountain Bike Tires Urban/Trail from amazon, they were reasonablely priced but now they’re $84 a set so they’ve went up.

Yeah they’re great tires, same ones the bike cops use around here, when I bought the set they were like $21 each.

The only issue I have had with them is the knobby sides feel a little wiggly at first when cornering compared to those rounded beach cruisers I had that were white, they just wore too quick on pavement at twice the speed they’re designed for.

These are designed to be sort of dual sport. They’re apparently made for bicycle police for you know pursuits.
the best grip I had was with a pair of white beach cruiser tires but they were too wide and didn’tquite fit properly. Too balloony
