Shouldn't the wheel axle go in the middle hole? With this configuration the wheel would pull the spring down towards the wheel when its loaded..

The spring should be pulled down , the Indian design works this way , These look pretty good , nice clean design.

There plans i found on the net. There 40.00 for the plans. They look simple enough. They also have friction type.
