I've got a pebble smartwatch connected to my phone with an app called ventoo that shows my gps speed on the watch.
You can do other cool stuff like get turn by turn navigation and notifications from your phone.
So instead of pulling my phone out while riding or risk the phone flying off the handlebar mount I can just check my wrist.
I'm sure you could get similar results from android wear or something similar.
