Has anyone fitted their MB with some sort of alternator or voltage generator? I'd like to rig up some LED lights/turn signals that would run off the rotation of the crank shaft, any suggestions / experience in this area?

The closest thing I've seen to an alternator is this:

I built a dynamo out of an basic brushed motor and have been having pretty good results with it, the only problem is it won't generate power if the bike isn't moving (and even when it is, it still doesn't give you much power). This Instructable gives the gist of it:
