Anyone in the Kyle, TX area (south of Austin) interested in a 5HP Briggs flathead? I do not want to ship it, so come get it! This was the original motor on my son's go-kart, but I could never get it running quite well enough to my satisfaction, so I took the easy route and replaced it with a 212cc Preddy.
The main issue with the motor is it is a little hard to start (takes 4-5 pulls) and has trouble idling low enough to not spin the centrifugal clutch. I am thinking the idle needle jet needs to be cleaned. It comes with a 10T MaxTorque clutch.
I spend about $60 in parts on the motor since it came to us non-running, and at WOT it pulls like a freight train.
New parts:
- Full gasket kit, only used the carb and head gaskets, so the rest are still in the envelope but go with the motor
- New spark plug
- New air filter
- New gas cap
- New governor spring
- New recoil starter spring
- New fuel pump diaphragm
If you act now, I will include a box of misc HT parts, including my blown 66cc motor with centrifugal clutch, WOW!
