48 Volts 1000 Watts - The Affordable Beast!!

Introducing insane power, THE BEAST. I just wanted to find
an affordable ebike conversion kit on ebay for a 24-inch bike, but couldn't
find one between 500-750 watts, so I had to buy a 1000-watt kit.

After putting it together, it proved to act like a bucking bronco with
abrupt starts and too much speed and power - very unsafe. To rectify
the situation, I had to upgrade the controller to a smoother 30 amp sine wave
controller, and to a better half twist incremental throttle. But the big option to
control power to the wheel motor is in the programming, where I can adjust
the amps to the wheel motor from 2-30 amps. For my brother, I selected 6 amps,
and programmed the top speed to 15mph. This bike at 15 amps is
capable of a blazing 35mph, with scary acceleration. I finally have
it adjusted as a Class II ebike. Here's the final bike:

Over the years my reply to everyone who's wanted to build a high speed motorized bicycle is simple. Just how fast do you want to be going when you come off the bike. It's not if but when it happens. As has been pointed out many times, people see a bicycle coming along and they some what naturally assume that it's not going at forty or fifty miles an hour and judge the time they have to open their door or pull out into traffic accordingly.

Then there is the structural and mechanical ability of the bike it self. Unless it's at least a frame from Sports Car Pat at Sportsman Cycle better yet a frame and wheel package, your life is in your hands. Pat and his team built a Bonneville Salt Flats record holder using his parts. A front wheel drive bike increases the chances of of an accident many times. The wheel doing your steering is now also your drive wheel and if a bump, pothole or loose sand/gravel causes your front wheel to lose traction your chances of going down have greatly increase to almost certain since you can't steer any more.

Information overload I'm sure but I've seen the photos and heard about far too many accidents on here since I joined in 2010. There were some we never heard of I'm sure,

Here's more information on reducing power: Select P14 and reduce amps
to the wheel motor to 6 amps. This effectively reduce the wattage of the motor.
Watts = volts x amps, watts = 48 x 6 = 288 watts. So the 1000 watt motor has
been reduced to 288 watts. By reducing the top speed in the programming
to 15mph, the ebike legally becomes a Class II ebike, with a functional throttle.
