great question, the display used is one you wont find else where for bikes. It was an efficient means to display information in an age where LCD screens were expensive.(early 80's) once LCD finally become commonplace and cheap, the style display I used had limited, niche uses. This product takes advantage of this unusual display to bring a unique aesthetic to your bike. Would you be interested in purchasing one? Assembly, parts, and shipping all for $20!

Of course I do have some apprehension of how readable a LEd display would be in sunlight. Having said that I want to commend you on your development of this product. The price of your kit is shockingly low. I am an analog readout type of guy but @ that price put me down for one! [email protected]

PS: I stand corrected, an led readout is retro!

Definitely tough to do for $20. I tried to do this once, a single box with lights switch, brake switch diodes, etc, temp and rpm, but never really got to mounting it on my bike before trading it for some parts. My gear ratio was 7.7:1 on 26” which comes out to 100rpm per mph, and that was gonna be my speedometer. Nowadays I just use an old iPhone which can be had for $40 on eBay with the speedometer app. Be nice to have a unit that stays attached to the bike so nobody can steal it. LED display like that is definitely retro...

I’ll make sure to print you an LED shade so you won’t have any issues with your display!

I have sent yo an e-mail.

Just wondering if this is a PIC based design? Dose it use a hall effect pickup, what other parts are required to complete install(power supply or battery ect.)
I will be using it on a 26" wheel

Sounds good, it does use the Hall effect with a reed sensor. All parts were designed in autocad and are printed on my Ender 3 3D printer. The box is powered with a 9V battery

I was pleasantly surprised how fast I received my LED speedometer kit. I was also surprised that it was fully functional when I received it. I had expected that I would have to mount and solder components to a circuit board as it is advertised as a kit. The digital readout was much brighter than I had anticipated. I guess that the kit part is mounting the sensor & magnet. this took some effort but was no big deal.
