So I've been wanting to get started on this project for a long time, but of course, set backs happen. All pieces have finally fallen into place and I've initiated the build. I was reading through a thread (not sure how old it was) and I kept seeing the same motor pop up. Black stallion 66cc/80cc angle fire slant head. From what I could tell, there wasn't any negative feedback on this forum regarding that motor, but I didn't dig too deep. I received it a few days ago and since have taken it apart because I was questioning the quality of the gaskets. They were sticking out everywhere and was even visibly torn on the flywheel side. Cocky big headed me didn't inspect everything prior to dismantling the head thinking the motor MUST be machined correctly.

Now here is where the questions begin. I'm just going to use letters for reference.

A) After I reassembled the motor, I noticed that there is a gap between the head and the gasket. I tightened it down as much as possible without stripping anything out, but I still see daylight. I did notice that the gasket does seem like it is tight pressed. Should I be concerned or do I need to make something happen?

B) I'm not new to fabrication or turning a wrench, but I've never worked on a 2stroke motor. Do I need to lubricate the motor prior to running the gas/oil mixture or is it going to hit quick enough to ensure no damage is done?

C) As of today, Amazon screwed me on the bike and never shipped it. They said just wait a couple weeks; my response was give me my d**n money back. So now I want to get one of the frames with the gas tank welded into the frame and the brackets for disc brakes, since I was just going to fab and weld ones myself. As well as a springer fork with the brackets. I received the brakes, but they're 160mm instead of the 180mm I had actually ordered. Is there suitable wheels for a motorbike with that size rotor or should I send them back?

D) Is there any way to not get hassled by the cops in California?

E) Im going to be dealing with a lot of hills, I noticed that a higher tooth count is good for torque, but overheats the engine quicker. While lower tooth count is better for speed. I need/want the best of both worlds, what's a good solution for this?

F) Suggestions?

I'll be updating as this build continues to unfold. I appreciate any and all help regarding this.

D: use the search feature to find the california laws.

Basically, you send in $20 (might be 21 now?) With the registration form found on the dmv website.

Legally, you need the registration, license plate, M2 (or M1) certification to ride a moped or motorcycle, DOT helmet, headlight, tail light, brake light, left mirror, and horn.

A: Replace the acorn nuts on the cylinder head with normal ones and see if that fixes the issue. The acorn nuts have a habit of bottoming out on the studs before they are actually tight.

E: Buy or make a good expansion chamber and you can double your engine's torque. Then you can run a smaller sprocket while still being able to climb hills.

Thank you I'll look into that

I was thinking of replacing them but it doesn't seem like they're bottomed out because the gasket feels tight but there's still a gap.

Looks like I will be adding an expansion chamber!

Howdy D. Welcome!
Howdy hey! Thanks, glad to be here!
