Purty cool Shwn. Always wondered if some thing like this could work. (with the extra leverage)

So much easier then wide cranks. They look stout too.

Looking forward to your future posts on how well they work.

That was a major deal for me as well. The cranks would clear, but had to pedal bow-legged.

Basicly had to stand to move the bike. (every time I messed up and ran out of gas or some other dumb thing I done did)

Normally, yes, but my engine is high enough on my frame that I don't have to worry about the crank clearing the engine, just avoid my legs banging against it.
I have the same problem. I already tried making wide pedals out of wood.
But that turned out to be to "thick". The wood thickness was just enough that the pedal would get stuck under the transfer case. So I took em off. Just to lazy to go to metal straps similar to what you did. :-||

I have found that with pants on, the rubbing against the transfer case isn't bad at all. But my right knee gets a little strained when I first start out.

Soooo Im gonna revisit my pedal extension doing something very similar to what you did.

Here's another way to do wide pedals with metal...

Well, I finally got around to modifying my pedals, here's how I did it.

I only needed about 1 1/2 " extension. So I looked around in my hardware drawer and found these old "Corner Brackets" I got from Lowes a long time ago. It turns out the brackets fit these pedals (Aluminum ) that I have had on hand for, oh, about 15 years or so.

I didn't have to do any drilling at all. The only extra work I had to do was to file down pedal edge, because it has a slanted corner or whatever you call it. That slanted corner caused the brackets to fall out of alignment and at an angle. So by filing down the edge, flat, the brackets went out just as smooth as a babies bottom.

The first picture shows the hardware used. The second shows the filed down edge. The third shows the completed pedal. The fourth shows the amount of extension I get beyond the transfer case. It's all i needed. The brackets look like brass but they are anodized steel.

I did both pedals, and now my knee doesn't get strained anymore - wew, what a relief.

.wee.
