So, I ended up messing up my rear-rim by letting my brake-pad wear-down to the metal, and in turn lathed into the rim deep enough that it finally buckled on a turn, and I blew a tire. TOTALLY my fault...I got lazy and shouldda attended the pads much sooner. 29" rims aren't yet too popular and readily available so I decided to replace the rear with the front rim and replaced the front with a 26" rim I had laying around. Well, I figured I'd have found a cheap replacement by now , but that hasn't happened. The front on my 29 is a disk-brake, and my replacement rim has left me with a deceleration-deficiency. Its smaller diameter has also produced a noticeable oversteer tendency. Well, looking at $80 for one 29" rim on a bike I bought for $170 new irks me, so I am committing myself to buying another brand new Genesis Two Nine; I'll keep the original for parts/guest use. I share this information because I love this bike so much, I was willing to pay the $220 WalMart is asking for the red and green models of this bike...for some reason, the blue model has had its price fluctuate in the past months. I bought mine @ $170 in December, and it went back up to $220 in January. Dunno why it's now $190 (the red and green ones are holding @ $220). As far as I'm concerned, the price is a steal. I have put about 1500 hard miles on it this Winter, and it has proven to be strong and reliable. It handled great in the snow, and whatever cheapo no-name knobbies they have for tires, they've held up very well: front like new, and rear replaced @ about 1000 miles. This has been my SOLE means of transportation for the past 4 months. Walmart's cheapo bikes get a bum rap, but I suggest that it's mainly due to poor assembly. If you buy one preassembled, take it apart and do it yourself. Anyway; here's the link. I'm a big boy, and I really beat on this baby. She held up great. If I'd been more careful with replacing the brake-pads, I'd be even happier now.

hey Kioshk, How do you adjust the front supension on that bike?
Haven't needed to yet...so I'm not sure. I weigh about 270#...it's been tight enough so far. I advise owners to grease up the posts though; they will rust moderately due to foul weather. I should mention that the combo of larger wheels and front-shocks makes mounting curbs a breeze...you hardly notice them.

I can't find out where on the internet the suspension information is. I looked up "Easing Shocks" and it brought me to a china surplus sit. "Ground force" shocks don't seem to exist either.

Like I sad, I love this bike, but information on it and parts replacement has been a problem. I was in a local bike shop yesterday looking for a replacement 29" motorized bicycle rim (I can't find a replacement ANY-F'ING-WHERE for less than like $80), and lo-and-behold, he had the EXACT match laying on his counter...GENESIS 29 stickers and all. Unfortunately, 'twas a customer's. I actually considered bludgeoning him and running out with it, but decided I should just spend the $180 for a whole new bike.

if you can get the chain to clear the tire.Of course it is possible.Might take some doing but I'm sure somebody out there has the skill..I,for one, would love to see somebody do it,you have to admit it would be cool!

That is my fear i don't know how much you can offset the engine to make the chain work without hitting the peddles on the engine.

A whole wheel should be about $30. www.niagaracycle.com you need a wide 700c wheel ("700x35") or "29" (really just a wide 700 wheel, with 135mm axle spacing if a rear wheel)

http://www.niagaracycle.com/categories/wheels/wheels/29?sort=priceasc
"29er" wheels, $30-40

700 wheels 25-40
Stock up on brake pads while you're there. I like gray v-brake pads.

Use Gorilla tape for rim tape.

Probably they are taking dead bikes (including Walmarts) to strip for parts and re-sell. If you take a Walmart to a bike shop, they are going to stick it to you for any parts or service.

Thanks for all the advice. The stock rims are 36H, which I prefer anyway since they're about 10% stronger overall, plus if I ever need to swap the front for back again, I'll NEED a 36H to accommodate the rag-joint. The absolute CHEAPEST I can get from Niagara in this category FOR THE RIM ONLY would be around $55 delivered. So, let's consider I'm loosing out on an extra hub with spokes...a conservative $20 value...and the time it'll take me to build it makes me lean very much towards a whole new Wally-rig. Still, Niagara's a great store from what I've seen. I will certainly keep them on my radar!

I'm looking into this bike as well. Did you use an engine kit? If so, which one? I'm new to this so I apologize if I ask too many questions.

I'd be interested to know if you could list any mods you had to make in order to make everything work? Thanks!

Hey Little Fox; welcome!

Ask away. Yes, my build is on a Genesis Two Nine and I love it. I recommend the X80 kit; no other reason but that it has a wide front mount that fits the Two Nine, it's relatively well built, and I just like it...OK? I suggest that you order the bike from Walmart and build it yourself, or if you've already bought it built; rebuild it yourself to make sure it's all good. Rear brakes suck, there are replacement options none of which I've tried. One change you MUST make for the chain to clear the tire is to swap the spacing washers on the rear-axle; check out my pictures for illustration.

Did you run into any real engine fitment issues with the Two Nine frame? I ask because I've always thought it would be a nice motorized bicycle, but I was always worried the frame would be too tight.
