I think if you use a star washer, don't even use a lock washer, just a washer.ok thanks. i was told 1 oclock? do i put the washer before or after the lock washer?
Turn the magnet counter clockwise to advance the timing. Don't go more than one keyway width. Try half a key way width first. My buddys engine is a dog, and its a new PK 80 from Pirates any way what way should my friend turn the new ajustabel magnet to make it run better, it sputters slightly no power and sounds rich. Is turning it right advancing it and left retarding it, does he advance it or retard it?
I have a friend that has one and his bike runs great. I ask the racers on the forum about it, and they said race bikes with them aren't any faster than the ones with a stock CDI. Some people have reported that their bike was smoother after installing one.I know im just a dumby here, but what about this aftermarket product right here : http://www.jnmotorsbikes.com/Jaguar_CDI_p/jnm1195.htm
It has different selectable timing curves, and it claims to create a spark thats twice the power. What are your thoughts on me just getting this jaguar CDI box and avoiding messing with the magneto?
There's not really a trick to it. I find it a lot easier to remove the magneto coil first. Then you can swap the magnet without much trouble. Once you remove the bolt on the magnet it shouldn't be much trouble to remove the old one. The shaft is just a straight shaft, it's not bevel or anything. Usually you can grab it and pull it off by hand. If it's on too tight, carefully pry it loose with two screwdriver, One on each side of the magnet. Thanks Biknut on your reply about what way to turn the magnet to advence the timing. Is there a proper way to titen the nut down so the shaft or magnet doesent turn off mark or does it perty well lock some what when the magnet is down, and will the lock warsher still work on the new adj magnet
I wouldn't count on it anytime soon. MM sold out almost a year ago, and the new owners don't seem interested in making motor bicycle parts. The ajustable magnets are out of stock, hopefuly they'll get some more
Probably your best bet right now would be to try doing it yourself. I think it would be possible to remove the key, and try locking it down with a star washer. No kiden, a year ago can the gie that modified them Manic Macanic talk to them or get ahold of Pirate Cycles or some vender that would be interested in them. Or can I try to change the timing by taking the key out of the key way and try tighting the nut my self and see if it holds
Hardware store comes to mind. Harbor Freight, but you probably will have to buy 500 of them. Possibly an auto supply. Home Depot. Were can I get a star warsher, or can I just use a lock warsher
