Yes you can.

I think you hafta turn the piston around as well, so that the ring ends are still on the intake side.

Yes, the piston will need to be turned as well, note the arrow on top of the piston befor removing the jug

What advantage is offered in turning the jug around? Other than exhaust mounting benefits?
