I've picked up alot of great tips from this forum which really helped me out. Its as if I had any problems I just used the search bar and easily found the answers for anything and everything! Great website! I must have studied the site for at least a month while I was ordering all the stuff, which helped divert any potential problems.

I chose the walmart cranbrook because it seemed more heavy duty then all the other walmart bikes...thicker spokes, steel frame, comfort level, apperance, and price...the bike runs great, looks great, and gets alot of nice comments!

Looks sharp! Love the color scheme! Keep an eye on the seat stays where they meet the backbone, mine cracked there after about 700 miles. Also watch the rear fender tab where it mounts to the frame because it will break.

I too am building my first Cranbrook MB.

Question please?
How did you install your rag joint sprocket?

I want a clean, "unbutchered" install.

I'm going to talk to some local machine shops and get a quote on expanding the inner edge of the center of the sprocket by 3/8".

This will leave about 5/16" gap between the sprocket and the end cap, allowing for 1/2" "possible/allowable - normal?" sprocket movement?

This will clear the end dust cap and the bolts should be flush with the metal moon rings, not half on and half off within the center sprocket hole.

I picked up the paint at my local auto parts store, just eyeballed it. Just make sure to sand everything your gonna paint real good and prime everything with a self etching primer.

the cheapest way, as far as Im concerned, was to just grind down the dust cap until it fit inside the sprocket hole. There is a post on here explaining how, and the poster said that he checked his bearings after 500 miles with his ground down dust cap and the bearings looked fine.

The rag joint was fairly easy, and once everthing is tightened down it fit together pretty easy. It was a little trickey with the front engine mount, but with a little inginuity you will figure it out. I just finished this build and plan on tightening down the finish so everything looks clean. Good luck!
