well here is something I made
it will stretch the wheelbase on my cruiser about 2 inches
we will see how well it works
I will use cap nuts with jam nuts & thrust washers, also painting will help
have a great weekend

NICE JOB! Even without paint it's a masterpiece!
Looks like you can even put a caliper brake on the original fork and it would move with the wheel!

that is brilliant!!!

If you used a front for with stays you could put on a v brake or other brake! Completely sweet, how about some up close shots?

I have worksman wheels with a drum brake in the front

its rough fresh off the bench but Ill clean it up
at least you get the idea

the fork is very true
the tire is nice & centered
this is the bike it goes on

I may have to extend the fork a bit as with the rake it will lower the front of the bike a little
I hope its not too much caster
have a great weekend

well I really wouldent call it sick

it does work really well though
I can feel the weight up there for sure

the spring is too stiff but it really smooths things out

I like the rustic look that the bike is taking on
take care

That is pretty creative. How is the torsion stiffness as you turn, does it track true and not have give at the hinges? With the motor it does not matter a lot about extra weight here and there in a bike so that could be a really nice riding fork.

yeah it tracks great & I can grab onto the top of the wheel & force it left & right & I only feel the wheel flex it stays strait
it steers slower then the solid fork I had on there but I really like it
I can adjust the hinges to take play out as the fork wears in & have used thrust washers on both sides
this fork would be cool with bearings & parts intended for the fork rather then putting together 3 other forks
have a great week

looks kinda like a variation of the old Monark fork. great idea, wherever it came from!

you've gotta get us some better photos of this stroke of genius! and a good photo of your bike, too. some of us dig those "rustic" bikes :-)

Speaking of better photos how 'bout some of your bomb er Molotov er bike with a macaroni burning engine, where you been Unc? Happy Trails Walter F.

I kinda looked at a bunch of old forks & this was the easiest way to do it with what I had
that was pretty much the deciding factor

here are more pics
I dont know if they are better or worse :-)

hey Walty, did you miss my latest photo in the evolution of the Molotov? this one's got a nice, sturdy lugged frame and very little patina :) got my camera back finally, so i'll get some decent photos up soon just for you.

thanks for the kind words
I like the one you are building as well
I look forward to the build on that one as well
have you seen worksman bikes? these bikes are all lugged
probably the strongest bikes on the plannet
mine is an pre war schwinn DX with worksman wheels
ofcourse I weld & made the intake setup & pipe ...
Kudzu you must be in the south :-)
take care

JAK, take a look at DasKapitan's brand new chrome Worksman. they are still making bikes in the US of A. i'd love to get that heavy duty front wheel with drum brake.

yes, UncleKudzu is from Alabama :-)

yeah Id bet modern Schwinn frames are made in china

worksman are the best

websiteThe Worksman Cycles Factory Direct Store Industrial Tricycles, Industrial Bicycles, Recreational Adult Tricycles and more

this is where you get the wheels

I have their alloy clinchers front & rear as well as the seat
my fork I had on before was also a worksman piece
I dont think there is a better cruiser or cruiser/industrial parts period
take care
JAK

BTW Im in NC
we have plenty of Kudzu here as well as wisteria?

dood, i'll bet Dan means he'd buy one of your work-of-art forks!
Oh DUH!
I could definatly do better then what I made myself & sell them
I do some fabrication as a tuner
also though if you go on ebay there is a real springer on there for about $150 that really cant be beat
# 120322487967 on ebay
although I think mine is stronger

with an actual shock & maybe bearings or tight bushings on the links the fork Id make would probably be twice that

I definatly like the U shaped fork at the front which I could make as well as a normal rear fork, the triple tree setup would probably be expensive

I am flattered for sure & I will research the cost involved in making a real sturdy springer with an actual shock
take care
