Gary,
When the guy shows up just tell him, "It got stolen", then he'll go away and you can keep it. :)

Yes, it's a Nut Case, 8 ball helmet. I bought it at REI. Nut Case has a lot of cool helmet designs.

It's very easy if your bike already has a 1" steerer tube. I'll be surprised if it only drops 1". Mine dropped 3".
if you want to drop it more, just cut a coil or 2 out of the spring.
I cut 1 coil out of my spring and it dropped my frontend about an inch more than stock.

non cut coil spring:

cut coil spring:

I know it's kind of hard to tell because i swapped out the bars too, but if you look close at the frontend itself, it did lower it and it kicked the front tire out slightly after i cut a coil out of the spring.

im not so interested in the drop (making it lower) im more interested in if imma have to get new cranks. i dont pedal much - just to get started but when i do have to pedal i dont wanna wreck looool. i dig the look of the bent springer and have found a few that are fairly cheap. i also like the idea of it stretching the front end out a bit \m/ i think it will achieve the look im going for

They sell a part that lowers, already low bent forks. It's called an extended fork crown.

The fork crown is the u shaped piece, that the spring connects to. They come in 3 lengths. I guess 4 counting the stock one. They lower bent forks even more.

Scroll down to the middle of the page.

"i dig the look of the bent springer and have found a few that are fairly cheap."

Lamb - cheap parts are usually priced that way due to cheap materials and cheap craftsmanship...
theres a saying that goes around here by a lot of members who have been doin this a lot longer
than myself "cheap parts aren't good & good parts aren't cheap" ...when it comes to front forks
on a motorized bike, I'm thinkin cheap is probly not the way to go... just offering some kind
words of asvise. I would hate to see anyone go down at 25-30 mph due to front fork failure...
that could potentially be deadly

Peace & ride safe

I totally agree which is why I have waited to buy the new forks yet. I watched the dinosaur eats man video and was thinking the whole time - man if that dudes forks crack at the speeds he's going its deff gonna suck. I'm fighting with myself about spending more on some forks than I paid for the whole bike. Which is why I have the bike that I have now to begin with. Last bike the rear wheel blew out bearings and new wheel was more than the cranbrook. BUT I realize the cranbrook is a cheap bike and as long as the frame on this beast holds up ill spend to upgrade things like wheels, hubs, brakes, ect. And at the same time if the frame cracked I wouldn't cry. Should be good tho as bike frame is steel and the welds look great on the one I picked out. (Looked at a few before I got the one I did checking for things such as sloppy welds and what nots) - I should also add I'm no bike mechanic and have no idea how to tell or what to look for in a quality bent springer fork ;) so if I got a cheap springer and it was crap I wouldn't be out a bunch of skrilla. If I buy a more expensive fork and it turns out trash its a hit I really don't wanna take.

My bent forks were about $50 shipped, $35 without shipping. They're pretty flimsy alright, but I've put them to the test, and they've passed with flying colors. A big plus is, they're 100% more comfortable than the stock rigid forks, and about 50% more comfortable than the cheapy suspension forks I had on my other bike.

I would now consider straight springer's on the right bike, which I wouldn't have before trying these bent springer's.

I'm not convinced there's cheap ones and better more costly ones. I think there's probably just the same ones, that people charge different prices for. Made in china, same as all the other forks.

I would recommend replacing these kind of forks once a year, because I think there will be high wear at the pivots.

That's the answer I want to hear lool the ones I saw on ebay were 35 bucks before shipping. The local bike shop wants 85 bucks. I don't really wanna buy from the bike shop cuz they are snotty ****** bags. Always giving me crap bout the parts I need (or want) bout I should take the motor off my bike and how I'm a cheater blah blah blah we don't dig anything that's really cool looool. Is a shame cuz they do carry most of the stuff I am looking to get and I wouldn't have to wait for shipping. I think I'm going to get the ones I saw for the 35+ shipping \m/ come on payday \m/

That sounds exactly like a couple of shops I've been to. Some shops are nice to me though. Surprisingly REI is one of them.

Hello my fellow Low Riders. I thought I would put my two cents in. On the question bout crank arm length I had to go shorter on El Roacho, and I believe you are correct Biknut on the forks that the only real difference is price. I have been runnin mine for a few months now (problem free).

I feel like mine are strong in the up and down, forward and back plane, but weak side to side.

Going around fast corners you have to me mindful that they try to turn in, and wash the tire to the outside.

My bike feels more stable at high speeds, than at low speeds. Now that I'm well used to them, I don't consider them difficult at all, but I would be concerned if to let someone ride my bike that wasn't familiar with how they ride.

Re: The OfFiCIaL Low Rider MB Thread

I think part of the way it handles is due to the change in how the forks are from the original to the springers.

Note: Getting it ready for the motor by changing out all the needed parts.
