Wire gauge and stand off layer thickness for 12v accessory coil

Ive read through everything I could find on here concerning this topic and I just want to make sure that I have got it right .

To make a 12 volt accessory coil that sits opposite of the Magneto coil...

I use .26 gauge copper annealed wire wrapped as symmetrically as I possibly can with a layer of insulation between each wrap...

Does anybody have any idea how many layers of steel need to be stacked within it to function properly? it would probably be the same amount of layers that would be in the main Magneto coil correct?
