Which Hub -Nexus 3 spd vs Cb 110 or 110e

Id like to get a wheel with a great hub that i can trust my life on since i commute to work. I have heard of the nexus 3spd and of course the cb 110 and 110e. Of course having a 3 speed on my cruiser is a big plus but i dont want to sacrifice safety. I have seen that piratecycles have an adaptor that fits the nexus 3spd hub and then we have the manicmechanic adaptor that will fit Cb110/110e. Also what kind of brake would work best with a nexus hub? I have never used either but if there is any riders that can give some input on the subject it would be greatly appreciated.

My rag joint and stock huffy rim scares me,no joke
 
Nexus 3 speed is maintenance free. CB 100/e are good also but will need to maintained time to time. A rim brake would work fine if you go with the Nexus. I would say run front and rear brakes.
