Thoughts for my next build.

Ok well i'm wanting to start another motorbike project. I'm wanting something similar to the bikes of the 1912-1917 period. The frame I've chosen is a Rollfast i'm assuming from the 50s - 60s. The questions i'm curious about are:

  1. Powerplant. 3hp briggs or 5hp briggs? I have a complete 3hp and a 5hp needing some work. I'm not wanting to spin it a lot and reliability longterm is my primary concern.
  2. Brakes. Will worksmans wheels with front and rear drum brakes be enough?
  3. Gearing. I'm wanting a top speed of around 45mph yet have plenty of torque for climbing hills. I'm wanting to register this as a motorcycle later on. Will either of these engines do this?
  4. Pedal starting a Briggs engine. I've seen a few youtube videos of it being done and am pretty sure I get the concept but on the chance i'm wrong does anybody have some ideas?

Hopefully i'm going in the right direction so far. Feel free to add thoughts or opinions.
