Salutations! I'm on a modding binge and am trying to find more things to change on my motorized bicycle to make it run smoother! I am thinking of cutting off some of the intake tube to make it more of a straight shot from the carb to the engine. The stock intakes have two unnecessary bends welded in (as I am sure most of you know) and I see no reason for them to be there. I just wanted to ask for advice before I made the plunge and cut it shorter and straighter. Will making the intake tube shorter increase acceleration or speed or both? Or does it make no noticeable difference?

Actually, these engines tend to like a larger intake tract. You might consider a longer, larger-volume manifold to smooth out low end power and increase torque.
Short intake for high revs, longer for torque.
Most piston port motors like this mod.
