Every time I do a search, I get page after page of totally unrelated theads.

What am I missing here?

At the top of the page just under the red stretch bike is a search tab. Click on that and then click on "Advanced Search" that should narrow things down for you a bit. Good luck!

Even the advanced search function is so poor as to not be of any use whatsoever.

Try this:

In Google put your search term in between the quotes and have Google search the forums for you:

"run in reverse" site:motorbicycling.com

So change run in reverse to whatever you are searching for and cut and paste it into Google.

You can try this http://www.gmodules.com/ig/ifr?url=.../016479345553290667157/cse/s9jyb2sckus/gadget but it will be two motorbike forums and sheldon's stuff on bikes.
