Here's a potential solution I found for those looking for a reliable analog speedometer. It's not actually analog but a digital version that looks similar to an analog. It has the basic options that digital bicycle computers have for setting wheel sizes but looks a little more like what you would want to mount to your vintage style MB. I realize there are issues with reliability of interference with the digital speedometers but there seem to be some tried and true solutions out there.
The frustrating thing is that it only seems to be in concept stage. It would be great if someone were able to find out if this thing would ever become available. The company behind the design is called Redfish.
