Here is a trick i do on all my engines.
I use disposable cookie sheets 2 for $1.19.
Very thin aluminum easy to cut and form and i havent blown one yet.
For the price you can make alot of gaskets.

Pull the jug gasket and the head gasket and replace with these and you'll see a good performance gain.

Also use the side of a plastic pen to press the gasket arond the edges to form to the shape of the motor.
Then you know the gasket won't move during assembly.

would you be able to do that for the intake and exhaust gaskets as well?

I tried this as a replacement exhaust gasket. It did not seal because of the slightly mismatched surfaces. However, three layers sealed very well, but don't expect it to last forever. This trick could work very well as an intake gasket. Now my exhaust and intake gaskets are made of Garlock oil and gas resistant paper sandwiched between layers of very thin brass.
