Old Schwinn trike and a Super Cycles scooter

Hello and thank you in advance for any information.
I have an old schwinn trike is like to put an electric motor on. I also have a Super Cycles 48v 1000w scooter. I was wanting to mount the motor in the back and use the chain from the hub to the differential. I’ve seen on this site where the motor is mounted to the frame in front of the crank so this does seem possible. Would this combination work? I see that I’d need to change the gear to match the gears on the bike. Would I need to change the size of the gear? Any help would be appreciated. I’ve never done anything like this. Also, I have been mocking it up with a couple different frames.
