New to this, question about the bike I want to use

I am seriously contemplating getting a motor for one of my bikes. I have an older murray mountain bike, cheap bike but solid. Good tires, brakes, etc, but after I bought it, I found out the rear derailleur was busted. Instead of replacing it, I removed both derailleurs and shortened the chain. So it's essentially a single speed. I put it in the highest, or maybe lowest gear, whichever one you use at high speeds.

Then after I got this all fixed up, I found a 1980s miyata road bike (For $3.99) that was just fine under that layer of rust and grime. The mountain bike has been sitting ever since.

Can I put a motor on this? Do I need to do something different with the gears? I can still technically change gears, it just involves removing and replacing the chain.

unless you get a shift kit, you don't need any gears. well, you need one to pedal the bike to start it, but once it's going, gears are useless.

ur murray frame should work great. they are like older huffy frames. the road bike ya got i dunno would have to see the frame. make sure ya got atleast 15 or more inches in crank to seat post height.
